Every artist is the sum of what they’ve absorbed—and for me, that’s a fusion of rhythm, soul, emotion, and grit. My music lives at the intersection of House, Drum and Bass, LoFi, Neo Soul, Drill, and Grime. That sound didn’t come out of nowhere—it’s rooted in five artists who shaped my creative DNA.
These K.M.R music influences taught me more than just how to produce—they taught me how to feel through music, how to move people without saying a word, and how to build something timeless.
So here’s a look at the legends who shaped the way I create, perform, and connect through sound.
🔊 DJ Premier – Boom-Bap, Soul, and Precision
You can’t talk about the musical inspiration behind K.M.R without starting with DJ Premier. He’s a master of soul-drenched samples, punchy drums, and minimalist layering that makes you nod your head without realizing it.
How DJ Premier influenced K.M.R goes beyond hip-hop—his style taught me to let the beat breathe. Whether I’m working on a LoFi groove, a soulful Drill loop, or even a DnB flip, Primo’s balance of knock and space is in everything I do. His work showed me how to make emotion hit without overcomplicating the arrangement.
🕺 Masters At Work – Groove, Swing, and Soulful Energy
When it comes to House Music, Masters At Work are the blueprint. Louie Vega and Kenny Dope’s influence runs deep in my sound. Their ability to combine Latin rhythms, deep bass, and melodic percussion created a house music style that feels alive and timeless.
The Masters At Work house music style taught me the value of rhythm that breathes and evolves. It’s why so many of my House tracks have a pulse that builds over time. They inspired me to lean into percussive textures and soulful bounce—and those vibes echo through everything I make, even when I jump into Grime or DnB.

🌸 Pink Pantheress – Short Form, Full Emotion
A newer name with major impact, Pink Pantheress blends vulnerability with innovation. Her tracks are short, but they say so much. She’s mastered the art of sample looping and emotional contrast.
Her sample-based sound influenced how I approach LoFi and Neo Soul especially. I don’t just want a beat to play—I want it to feel like it remembers something. Whether it’s a nostalgic vocal loop or ambient texture, she helped me explore how to build emotion into every second of a track.
🎛️ Todd Terry – Raw, Unfiltered House
Todd Terry showed me that House can be raw, unfiltered, and absolutely electric. His sound is unapologetically rugged. He’s not afraid of crunchy drums, dirty samples, and rough cuts that hit you in the chest.
This ruggedness inspired me to embrace imperfection in my own production—especially in my Drill and Grime tracks. It doesn’t have to be clean to be effective. Todd reminded me that the energy is what moves people, not polish.
🔥 Earth, Wind & Fire – Harmony, Vibe, and Vision
Then there’s Earth, Wind & Fire—the gold standard of timeless music. From lush horn sections to complex vocal arrangements, their work is all about depth and celebration.
Their musical legacy impacts the way I build melodies and harmonies today. Even in a House track, you’ll hear subtle nods to their influence—layered synths, rich chord progressions, or a feeling that the music lifts you up. They taught me to aim for longevity. To make something that still slaps five years from now.
🎧 The Legacy of These K.M.R Music Influences
So what does this all add up to?
It adds up to a sound that’s not tied down to one box. The K.M.R music influences I carry with me help shape every genre I touch—House, DnB, LoFi, Neo Soul, Grime, and Drill.
Some of my tracks will make you dance. Some will make you reflect. Some will just hit that sweet spot where memory, movement, and melody all meet. That’s the result of five different influences flowing through one unique voice—mine.
